Just thought I'd go ahead and get a thread started for this. The game was delayed to 2026 late last year, but now we're 3 months into 2026 and still nothing. Knowing MAGES' track record, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they delay it again lol. Hopefully not though! I kind of want to re-read S;G soon as well since it's been a while, and even though I might not like the new art as much as the original and also find the usage of the Elite script offputting I am still interested in the added content and will probably choose it for my re-read because of that.

Anyway, feel free to share any thoughts you have about it here.

If we get no word from MAGES on Reboot by the end of summer it's basically a guarantee it's being delayed another year or so.

I have NO clue what's been taking them so long, this honestly should be a relatively quick and easy cash grab title, and one MAGES desperately needs if it wants to survive.

I have it on good terms (I asked my Deluoode connections about it and a lovely fellow named Cristobal Foole helped me out) that it's the doing of SERN. The bastards are trying to suppress Re:Boot so that we won't catch on to their maniacal schemes! What ever are we to do...

Kidding aside, yeah I have no idea. Hell, they don't even have to do as much work since they're using an abridged script. To be honest it concerns me a bit, brings to mind how AlphaDream started pumping out a bunch of remakes shortly before it closed it's doors. Now AlphaDream's remakes were exclusive to dying platforms unlike this one, so maybe it'll do decently commercially.

But it does feel similarly unnecessary in a lot of ways since the original S;G is basically perfect IMO, though I am still interested in the new content regardless. But they could've just put it in like, a spinoff VN instead of doing a whole remake hence that cashgrabby feel around it as you mentioned. Do still want to read it though, would be nice if it released sometime this century :^)

These mfers declared insolvency in 2022, decided to make a cash grab remake of their most popular, highest earning IP to make SOME money finally after a decade of not doing that, and they can't even do that right. Like, bruh...

To be honest, I don’t have any expectations for the upcoming remake. The whole situation looks more like the company just wants to make a quick profit in the easiest way possible.

They’re just slapping a new coat of paint on a masterpiece and charging us for it again. And frankly, I find it extremely disappointing that, since Steins;Gate 0, we haven’t received anything of significance for the franchise.

But on the other, it’s clear that Mages really needs money, and this may be the last title we get from them before they go bankrupt.

So I don’t want to endorse an inferior product compared to the one that released 17 years ago, but I also don’t want to see Science Adventure die…

Pretty much the point I think we're all at. Would be interesting to see what the creators would do next if SciADV wasn't an option, though.

I will say, I wouldn't go as far as to call the new art soulless. Like, it clearly isn't as good. But I think if it was a new IP people wouldn't have any issues. It's just that it's having to compete with the original Steins;Gate art... yeah, no contest lol. Your post is pretty much spot on though, exactly the sort of conflict that I am feeling as well.


I've particularly never liked how Mayushii's design changed so much though. Her spiky hair looks better imo, the 0 and Re:Boot look is too freaking round!!!!

I completely agree with that. The design certainly isn’t entirely soulless, but it has become more ‘generic’. Unfortunately, this happens very often with modern releases.

It’s a shame to admit, but all we can do is hope that the remake turns out well. Hope is all we have right now. So let’s keep our fingers crossed that this world line isn’t a total loss yet, and even if not this one, then in some other one the remake will definitely be good.
