Board rules

These rules are disclosed to clarify the various responsibilities of all community members here on Deluoode BBS | Steins;Gate Forum. They shall be adhered to by everyone to ensure that our board runs smoothly and provides a fun and productive experience for all of our community members and visitors.

  1. Preamble

    1. This forum is committed to adhering to free speech principles. As the admin, I believe that people should be able to express their opinions no matter how unpopular. However if you create a community which subscribes to free speech absolutism, most of the time the quality of discourse will suffer for it. #
    2. This is for a multitude of reasons; bad-faith trolls who do not contribute to the site at all, subversive individuals trying to recruit people into their ideology, mindless shock content which scares off new members, etc. These people are invariably what all communities which subscribe to this absolutist philosophy end up succumbing to. #
    3. All of this is to say that I believe firmly in lax moderation and in tolerance of differing viewpoints, but I will not allow this forum to become a dumping ground for people to post shlock and then hide under the guise of free speech. What I seek is the middleground; a space which has high levels of freedom of expression while also maintaining a high level of discourse. If this sounds good to you, then you will probably fit in well here. #
    4. This page will contain three different categories. Universal rules are rules which apply to every part of the website, these shall not be breached under any cirumstances. Violation of these rules will result in prompt moderative action. #
    5. Forum-specific rules are rules which apply to only one specific subforum. There will not be many of these but I have included them here in order to maximize transparency. #
    6. Posting etiquette refers to the standards that are generally expected to be adhered to when posting. Violating these excessively will usually result in little more than a warning, but repeated and continued violations could result in more serious moderator action. #
  2. Universal Rules

    1. Do not post any content which violates United States law. #
    2. There will be no tolerance for doxxing, stalking or widescale harrassment of other users. #
    3. Ban evasion is not allowed. If a user is caught evading, they will be given an even longer ban. #
    4. Spamming or flooding in a way which disrupts conversation will not be tolerated. #
    5. The administrator reserves the right to remove any particularly rule or etiquette-violating users at any time. Posting here is a privilege, not a right. #
    6. Posting pornography or gore is prohibited unless it's strictly relevant to the conversation at hand. #
    7. You must be 18 years of age or older to use this site. #
  3. Forum-Specific Rules

    1. All conversation in "The Base" should at least tangientally pertain to the Science Adventure series. All SciADV media is to be discussed on this subforum, including the anime adaptations as well as any other material no matter how supplementary. This also extends to news and other such information. #
    2. In the "The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture" subforum, all currently airing releases must be discussed in the designated thread for the topic. This is to keep the forum focused on older or more obscure titles as opposed to most anime discussion boards which are filled by seasonals. #
    3. On both the site chatroom and the guestbook subforum, posting etiquette does not apply. Just bee yourself. #
    4. On the "The Base" and "The Study for the Society of Modern Visual Culture" subforums, threads marked as "(General)" are spoiler zones; anything pertaining to the main material goes and does not need to be spoiler tagged because for these threads as it's assumed that you are already a fan if you clicked on them. With that said, if you're in a thread for a large series and posting about a spin off that released last year and hasn't yet come over to English, maybe hold off on posting major plot details. In short; when in doubt for a spinoff entry, spoiler it even if in a General thread. #
  4. Posting Etiquette

    1. We value high-effort posts and articles here. Creative projects, too. Ideally this forum will inspire a spirit of creativity amongst the userbase. #
    2. Discussing politics and similar hot button issues is frowned upon. You have the entire internet to discuss this on; I don't want to see it here. I'd like for this forum to replicate the internet of old when culture wars weren't so omnipresent in every space. #
    3. Necroposting is encouraged. I'd like to keep redundant threads to a minimum. Before making a post, use the search function to see if a thread on the topic has already been made before. #
    4. Posting NSFW imagery if it's relevant to a conversation is okay; if it's say a graphic scene from a TV show for instance. Otherwise please refrain from posting such material. #
    5. Posting nothing but driveby one-liners or generally low quality posts is disliked. This is a forum, not social media. Doing it on occasion is fine but if most of your posts consist of this you will receive pushback. #
    6. Discussing your personal projects is very much welcome, but excessive marketing (especially of paid services) will be treated as spam and removed. #
    7. Dismissing other posters' viewpoints based on their post history or off-site activity is not conducive to good conversation. Let's engage with ideas instead of engaging with the individual. #
    8. Continously stirring up trouble with or flamebaiting other users is not acceptable. I will never stop a passionate, heated conversation but there shouldn't be any insincere ragebaiting here. #
    9. Spoilers for any form of art or entertainment should be properly tagged as such. #
