I finished the first ending of Chaos;Child! While I have loved the main plot, crazy twists, and Map Puzzles (Very cool mechanic btw). I don't really care for the majority of the characters outside of Takuru, Serika, and Nono. I also haven't really liked the delusions so far either. And then they disappear completely from chapter six onward.
I feel the game is propped up heavily by its very compelling mystery. And constant back and forth of what might be the right answer to what's really going on. I'm happy that its third act is a million times better then C;HN's. And also that the characters in C;C are overall much better too. But C;C seems to miss some of that charm C;HN had. And I think it has a lot to do with its main character and its connections to delusions.
Takumi's delusions worked insanely well for the mechanics and his character. I found myself questioning many times why the delusion trigger is even in C;C. Aside from it being a Chaos game. The delusions I've seen from Takuru so far are very random. And I don't really feel like they fit his character most of the time. Sure the delusions in C;HN were predictable in the sense it was either going to be horrifying or horny (for lack of a better term). And not all of them (especially the positive delusions) are great. But it was a little exciting to see what kind of fantasy Takumi was going to cook up next.
Don't get me wrong. I've been really liking the story of C;C so far. It's much better written and engaging then C;HN and it doesn't have character bloat either. But at the same time, while I don't much like the roster from C;HN. I can remember them pretty well. And they left at least a little bit of a impact on me (not even talking about side routes). Mio, Hinae, Hana, Uki, Yui, and others. There's just nothing really there that I find interesting about their characters outside of their main plot relevance. If they even have any at all, like Hana. I haven't finished it yet though. So maybe some of this will change.

Overall, its great! But I have a couple issues with it. :Okkei:

Fun Fact: Hana is a last minute decision because Chiyo wanted a girl of his liking. So, if you wonder why Mio doesn't have a route, you know who to thank.

"You have to put her in the game or I'll go write for someone else!"
Ugghhh. Alright. Fine. What's this character all about?
"Mmm."
What?
"Mmm."
What kind of relevance to the plot does she have?
"Mmm?"

is this actually true?

also gotz hard agree on the delusions in C;C being mid compared to C;H it really just doesn't hit the same. I think the gritty setting of C;H also helps a lot with that.

Confirmed by the man himself. Also, C;H delusions > C;C delusions. They're more memorable and fit more with Takuru's character, but Taku isn't a schizo, unlike our favorite NEET.

In general I find C;C delusions more memorable. I just treat them as optional extra scenes. It’s unfortunate they’re not thematically integrated into the game, but i struggle to think of a way to fix that. C;C is a fundamentally different kind of game. I honestly wonder if twipo would’ve been better served here than in robotics;bloat.

Chaos;head had a problem I thought c;c didn’t have where delusions came up too often, and in scenes where they ruined the moment. Chapter 6 box scene in particular is one but there are others. The mechanic is better suited to that game and protagonist for sure. Still, I remember many more individual chaos child delusions than head. Really don’t know what they could’ve done to make it thematically relevant… might stew on it.

Takuru literally has a Twipo account and talks about it constantly.

Yeah, and kaito doesn’t lol. He barely interacts with the site. Its only real purpose is route stuff, there’s some light foreshadowing with events and shit but yeah IRUO was the more important feature. Twipo in chaos child could’ve seriously enhanced the info war aspect of the game. Still doesn’t solve the delusion problem, and I doubt they’d remove it entirely. And we might’ve dodged the bad cameos from r;n if it had been in chaos child instead…
