What would you use time travel for?
Lab members, I come to you with a most urgent proposition! If you had access to a time machine, what would you use it for? For me, I really wish I could've been around to see the American arcade culture of the 80s and 90s.
The idea of using games as more of a social event, as opposed to the solitary hobby they are today, fascinates me deeply in spite of my hikikomori nature. The games of that time seem so pure and undiluted in comparison to what we have today. Additionally the idea of competing with local arcade regulars to see who could put up the highest score just sounds very fun, if I ever go to Japan I'd love to give a crack at some shmups there since they still have something of an arcade scene.
So what say you all? The machine beckons for you... it calls for you.

Go back to pre-Meiji Restoration Japan when shrine maidens apparently sometimes served as sacred prostitutes!

Now, seriously. I would go back to the 2000's and buy anything my hands could get ahold of: Dreamcasts, PS2, MP3 players. I would also try to get all the lost versions of Yume Nikki, as well as get in contact with Kikiyama. And lastly, I would spend all my money on Bitcoin and enjoy the millions.

I would convince him to heal his cancer (he had cancer in the 2000s) with some woo woo bullshit like fruit juice, or acupuncture or positive thinking of some shit. Even if he somehow ends up making the iPhone at least he dies definitely dies before the iThink implant. Fuck it, I might even go back, tell him to get a scan for cancer in 2003 so he believes i am a shaman, then once he's convince I'll try to feed him "magical fruit juice" to cure it until he dies.Parzival wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 7:41 pmConvince Steve Jobs to not invent smartphones

Those secret messages
That spill into the air
From far away, so far away
A flowing river of illusion
Running with confusion
Never gone, it goes on and on.
