Small notice: I've been looking at the websites linked in the profiles associated with these intro posts and there are a lot of cool ones missing a functional feed (that means with dates, not just passing https://validator.w3.org/feed/). Please do something about it, I'd love to add them to my sfeedrc!

Not sure if I was one of the ones obliquely indicated here, but I noticed myself being guilty as charged. I updated it now and hopefully it should work. As a big fan and endorser of RSS feeds, it was an embarrassing omission on my part. Welcome to the forum, by the way. :)

It sucks when you gotta do it in these cases but it's a necessary evil, it's happened on Gikopoi a few times. (The funny part is, even when you point it out and give them an opportunity to slide most of them will still insist on it and get the hammer.) I think most of us grew up when the rule about being underageb& was don't ask don't tell, I'm not sure when this changed but I don't think it's a good thing to enable: what I've gotten out of it is young zoomers often like to pull the underage card to deflect criticism. Not saying that's what it was in his case but I think he should learn about the pros and cons of posting your age. Did you ask your parents' permission before going online?

At least he only has to wait a year at most. I bet if someone showed up right now with a different name none would be the wiser...

Yeah I mean, there's a reason the 18+ rule is the lowest in the section it's in. I don't really care about it at all on a moral or ethical level, I can tell you firsthand that I saw far worse shit online when I was a teenager than this forum. It is there solely for legal liability reasons. Since IPs are now anonymised I'd have no way of knowing if he signed up under a different username now through a burner email or something.

Regarding the point about using age as a crutch, I see what you're saying but I think those people are generally a vocal terminally online minority. When you're younger, those 1-2 year gaps seem a lot bigger than they do once you turn into old farts like we are. Time begins to speed up once you reach your 20s, so I don't think it's odd for teenagers to share their ages given that.

I gave this a test just now on a testing account and it seems that it shows the ban message when you try to login and then logs you out. So he should be able to browse the site just fine, although it's possible that it could be recognising that I have the IP of the admin? If anyone wants to be a guinea pig and test further, let me know :^) I'm pretty sure that it doesn't IP block you from seeing the site though since IP bans are a seperate category in the admin panel.

May has banned THOUSANDS of poor innocent Vietnamese bots who were looking forward to post on Deluoode! Just think of the cultural enrichment we missed out on, learning about Vietnamese artificial intelligence slam poetry and interpretative boolean logic dances. Who will assist you in writing essays from now, Mr. Pews? Because you banned the only users capable of doing so.
