My unofficial soundtrack while building this forum will go down as Country Roads, I had it on repeat nearly the entire time lol. Both the original John Denver version of the song and also Charles Wesley Godwin's cover.

This is one of those songs that everyone has already heard before so I don't know how original what I'll be saying here is, but I really love it. It's a such a... pure expression of love for one's home. Like, everyone knows West Virginia is far from a perfect place to live and this was true at the time of the song's writing as well. But the way John vividly describes the nature in such few words and also the intensity behind his vocals gives it a true emotional punch. He sounds like he's damn near crying almost to my ears, or maybe that's just my sentimental ass confusing my own emotions with his. But damn, it's really a wonderful and special tune. One of my favourite country songs.

I climbed over Rocky Top mountain last week. I noticed it on my map a few days beforehand, and this song has been stuck in my head since.

The view from the top is alright... The climb and descent suck balls lol. Great song tho

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the climb! Bluegrass is a wonderful genre, takes quite a degree of technical skill to do it well yet still manages to feel very rootful and true to an area's culture. I'll have to look more into the Osborne Brothers, they are one of the projects I haven't properly got around to yet. One interesting bluegrass project I came across was Balsam Range's classical collaboration with Atlantic Pops Orchestra. There are a few songs that.. don't work very well at all to put it bluntly, but I am quite fond of this one;

Also despite being 70s country, this Waylon tune always struck my ears as being kinda bluegrassy. Maybe it's just me though.

Not typically a big Lana Del Ray fan but someone played it like last week and it's been stuck in my head since.

I think this is my favorite piece of songwriting ever. Beautiful song, definitely one of my all-time favorites.

I've only played XBC2 in the series (well, and most of Xenogears but I didn't finish it), but that game has one of the best OSTs you'll ever hear. Mitsuda is a genius.
