I feel the game is propped up heavily by its very compelling mystery. And constant back and forth of what might be the right answer to what's really going on. I'm happy that its third act is a million times better then C;HN's. And also that the characters in C;C are overall much better too. But C;C seems to miss some of that charm C;HN had. And I think it has a lot to do with its main character and its connections to delusions.
Takumi's delusions worked insanely well for the mechanics and his character. I found myself questioning many times why the delusion trigger is even in C;C. Aside from it being a Chaos game. The delusions I've seen from Takuru so far are very random. And I don't really feel like they fit his character most of the time. Sure the delusions in C;HN were predictable in the sense it was either going to be horrifying or horny (for lack of a better term). And not all of them (especially the positive delusions) are great. But it was a little exciting to see what kind of fantasy Takumi was going to cook up next.
Don't get me wrong. I've been really liking the story of C;C so far. It's much better written and engaging then C;HN and it doesn't have character bloat either. But at the same time, while I don't much like the roster from C;HN. I can remember them pretty well. And they left at least a little bit of a impact on me (not even talking about side routes). Mio, Hinae, Hana, Uki, Yui, and others. There's just nothing really there that I find interesting about their characters outside of their main plot relevance. If they even have any at all, like Hana. I haven't finished it yet though. So maybe some of this will change.
Overall, its great! But I have a couple issues with it.
