I've been going through Gainax's backlog more recently. So far I've gotten through Otaku no Video, Gunbuster, Abenobashi, and Kare Kano.
Ah, a fellow man of culture I see.

Karekano looks really good and I think I might try that pretty soon, the idea of a romcom being directed by the same man who brought us EoE is amusing to say the least. What is Abenobashi like? Never heard of it till now.
Yeah you can see some Anno-isms(?) in Kare Kano, so enjoy. Abenobashi is kinda hard to explain, the closest I can relate it to is if FLCL was about accepting grief and change instead of puberty. I don't think it's as strong as FLCL in putting the theme across as it felt a bit random at times, but I think it's at least worth a watch. One of those shows that you watch when you have an afternoon to kill. :OkarinSip:

I think so far Nadia is my favorite out of them, granted I'm not at the infamous island arc yet. I'm really curious to who the main villain actually is and whats his real goal.
I need to watch more Gainax, especially Otaku no Video. Had that recommended recently.

Last night I watched GUNHED, a cyberpunk tokusatsu movie with a big ass fuckin' robot that's basically a Metal Gear. I don't really remember what the hell happened and it was kind of a strange film, but the coolest part about it is that it got used for this video that my dad worked on back in the day:

Watching Fate/Zero and gotta say, not impressed so far. I like how it looks visually but everything else is unremarkable. I assume this must be a case where it's being rated high by those who haven't read the VN but it honest to god just feels like I'm watching a Hype Moments highlight reel.
Two particular instances of this really come to mind. First when Kenneth is in that skyscraper and the entire thing gets blown up. Then it pans over to Kirei emerging from the fires who goes "I can't believe a mage would actually do that". I mean okay, surely he's dead right? Like there's no possible way a viewer could draw any conclusion other than him being dead. But nope, he randomly appears raring to go seemingly uninjured to fight Kiritsugu personally 2 episodes later? Uhhh.. okay then
Then in the most recent episode I watched (ep 8), Lancer and Saber are backed into a corner by Caster's goons. They've been pinned there for what felt like quite a long while in episode time due to some other POV interrupting it. So then they just go (paraphrasing) "Okay we're going to have to make a gamble/quick break, I (Lancer) will go through while you go for the book he's holding." And then it barely even shows them cutting through and they just win instantly. Wasn't this supposed to be a dangerous gamble? Lmao way to kill the tension, outside of that cool Assassin dodging all the traps scene really early on the choreography of the action scenes leaves a lot to be desired.
I don't get this one so far. I tend to really like more grimdark shows which I've heard F/Z but this one isn't doing it for me unfortunately. The storytelling feels lacklustre and like it takes a back seat to cool things happening.

Just finished season 2 of Mashle: Muscle and Magic
It is really strange in that it combines two things I quite dislike (those being Harry Potter and One Punch Man) into something heavily entertaining, and quite sweet and heartwarming at times.
Season 3 is said to air in 2027, so it will be a long wait. Oh well, I still have plenty of anime to watch until then.

Started watching Genshiken, nearly finished the first season. Freaked out by how much Tanaka just looks like me. Either way, KINO all the way through.

I must simply marry her. It's as easy as that.

Completed Genshiken. Man, if the final episode ended half way through it would have been an absolute

.
But I am glad our guys got a good ending. Fantastic series, very glad I watched it. I am certain our good end exists out there too, and I will search every timeline to find it, believe you me, my fellow Genshiken members.
Might watch season 2 at some point, but I think I'll be watching Record of Lodoss War next, since a friend already started it and I want to be able to discuss it with him. Certainly slowing down with the anime rate of consumption as I have work week round now, but I'll adapt to this somehow!
